PEARL RIVER – A Covington lawyer has filed a lawsuit against Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) in Pearl River alleging workers there were overworked without proper compensation and misclassified as supervisors in a way that shorted them money that “could be in the millions of dollars.”
Attorney Dale Williams has filed two separate lawsuits against AWG on behalf of hourly workers and supervisors, both alleging AWG did not pay them correctly for the time they worked.
Williams is seeking to have his lawsuits certified as a class action and is seeking other employees or former employees who believe they were also paid improperly.
AWG employs over 300 people at its grocery distribution center in Pearl River.
