Win puts Lakeshore into Class 4A quarterfinals

ARNAUDVILLE — The Lakeshore Lady Titans advanced to the quarterfinals round of the Class 4A state playoffs last week, and they are slated to meet the top seeded team in the tournament April 28.
The Lady Titans rolled to a dominating 13-5 victory over Beau Chene in the second round of the playoffs, and with the win, Lakeshore advanced to the quarterfinals at Frasch Park in Sulphur.
The ninth-seeded Lady Titans are scheduled to meet No. 1 North DeSoto in a noon contest. North DeSoto, which is 30-3 this season, posted a hard-fought, 1-0 victory over No. 17 Leesville in its second-round confrontation.
Lakeshore, which sports a 19-10 record this year, used a balanced attack in cruising to the win over Beau Chene.
The Lady Titans erupted for 14 hits during the game and used a big third inning to control the contest.
The game was scoreless after two innings of play, but it was in the third frame that Lakeshore sent six runs across the plate to take a lead it would not relinquish.
Beau Chene scored a run of its own in the bottom of the third inning, and then tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it a 6-5 affair.
Sam Conley, however, belted a two-run single in the top of the sixth, and teammate Kaitlyn Dalferes smacked a two-run home run to give Lakeshore some breathing room.
Dalferes finished the game with two hits, she scored two runs and added the two RBI.
Paige Hulin collected three hits during the game, Emma Autin, Conley and Madi Miller all recorded two hits for the Lady Titans and Alena Honold added one hit and she drove in two runs for Lakeshore.
Tracy Mashaw worked all seven innings on the mound for the Lady Titans in earning the victory. Mashaw did not allow an earned run, she struck out seven batters and yielded two walks.
Beau Chene, which finishes its season with a 21-8 record, was led by Leah Charles and Lacey Bonvillain, each of whom tallied two hits during the contest.
