Successful Seasons – Local graduates help Delgado baseball team

NEW ORLEANS — Delgado closed its 2017 campaign recently with a 9-5 loss to Crowder College (Missouri) in the semi-final round of the South-Central District Championship at Turner Field in Joplin, Missouri.
Two players from local high schools had an impact on the final game.
Sophomore J.P. LaGreco (Northshore High School) had two hits and two RBI’s in the final game while freshman Blake Way (Northshore High School) had a home run.
LeGreco finished the season with 48 starts while scoring 36 runs. He also had 54 hits, 50 RBI’s and batted .344.
Way finished with 35 starts and scored 27 runs. He finished with 32 hits, 11 RBI’s and batted .291.
Also, contributing during the season were sophomore pitcher Trevin Stein (Northshore High School) and sophomore Tyler Thompson (Covington High School).
Stein pitched in 21 innings giving up 13 runs on 21 hits, three walks and 14 strikeouts. His ERA was 3.33.
Thompson started in 21 games and scored 10 runs.
For the season he had 14 hits, nine RBI’s and batted .215.

With the loss, Delgado closed its 2017 campaign with a record of 33-18.
