St. Scholastica eliminated after 4-0 loss against Penguins

COVINGTON — St. Scholastica saw its season come to an end when it suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Academy of Our Lady.
The Doves finish their 2017 campaign with an overall record of 11-11 and they were the 12th-seeded team in the Division III postseason.
Fifth-seeded Academy of Our Lady, meanwhile, improves to 17-12 with the win, and it advances to the quarterfinals in Sulphur where it will take on Loyola Prep-Vandebilt.
The Penguins of Academy of Our Lady got on the board early, and then used some strong pitching and defense to hold off the Doves.
In the bottom of the opening inning, the?Penguins sent two runs across the plate to gain the early advantage.
The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the third inning, when Academy of Our Lady scored two more runs to account for the 4-0 final.
Penguins pitcher Katlyn Luebert gave up just two hits and she struck out three batters to lead her team to the victory.
Riley DeLaval and Arden Perry each registered a hit for St. Scholastica.
Hanna Miller and Magen Authement each had two hits and two RBI to lead the offensive attack of Academy of Our Lady.
