St.?Paul’s advances with victory over Scotlandville

SULPHUR — In a three-game battle, St. Paul’s pulled out a series victory over Scotlandville to advance in the Division I postseason tournament.
In this Regional round confrontation, the Wolves picked up a 3-1 win in the opening game of the series, but they suffered an 8-7 loss in Game 2 of the series. In the finale, however, St. Paul’s was able to emerge with a 7-3 victory.
In the first game of the series, the seventh-seeded Wolves scored a run in every one of the third, fourth, and fifth innings to claim the victory.
Grant Grosch had a big game at the plate for the Wolves with two hits, one of which was a home run, and he drove in two runs. Beau Neelis collected three hits for St. Paul’s, one of which was a triple, and William Huertin also hit a home run for the Wolves.
Jacob Scherer went the distance on the hill for the Wolves and allowed just two hits in picking up the win.
In the second game, Huertin collected three hits and Robby Darrah had one hit and drove in two runs for St. Paul’s.
Scotlandville scored a run in the final inning to escape with the win and force a final game.
