BATON ROUGE — District 77 State Representative John Schroder (R-Covington) announced his resignation Monday to a group of family, friends and supporters.
Schroder cited his desire to fully dedicate his time to his campaign to become Treasurer of Louisiana in the Oct. 14 special election.
“I am ‘all in’ for the people of this great state and am fully committed to running for Treasurer of all the people of Louisiana,” Schroder said. “I hope I am able to look back at my time here and say that I chose the needs of the people of this state and my district over the wants of special interests and politics. To say that I stood up for the taxpayers with political courage and did not waiver.”
Schroder, a native of New Orleans and resident of Covington, was elected in 2007 and is serving his final term as a State Representative.
Schroder served as a Criminal Investigative Division Special Agent in the U.S. Army and as a narcotics agent in the Ascension Parish Sheriff Department. He sits on the House Appropriations Committee and was a co-founder of the House Fiscal Budget Hawks. He is a small businessman, real estate agent, and developer.
