Ruth L. Overby, beloved mother, 81, of Dunlap, TN passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. Memorial Service is Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Villa Maria Chapel, Mulvane, KS. Graveside service will be at Pine Hill Baptist Church and Cemetery, Enterprise, MS.
She was born December 14, 1934 in Big Stone Gap, VA to Sam and Emma McCoy Lipps. Ruth married her husband Norman Overby in New Orleans, LA and
settled in Slidell, LA where she resided for the next 30 years. After the passing of her husband and raising her family, Ruth moved to Dunlap, TN where she concentrated on her writing of short stories and poems, many of them being published. In 2015 she retired to Mulvane, KS bringing her closer to her family and in this short time her presence drew many people to her.
She will be truly missed by her Children, George (Janie) Overby of Purvis, MS, Mary Kaye (Wes) Anderson of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa (Bob) Pearson of Minden, NE, Leslie (Bryan) Cunningham of Haysville, KS and son, Franklin (deceased); Grandchildren, Michael Paul (Amanda) Overby, Jason (Stacy) Overby, Justin (Tabitha) Overby, John Wasson, Amanda (Orion) Patrie, Tara Cunningham, Tricia Cunningham, Angela Wasson Balderas, Shannon Pearson; Great-Grandchildren, Caleb, Gabriel, Angelina, Annalise, Brianna, Britton, Brennan, Reece, Tyler, Jonah, Cameron, JT, Bianca, Jillian, Jasper and sister Sherrill Brown of Indianapolis, IN.

Jacqueline Murphy, “Miss Jackie” passed away at her home on Friday night, September 16, 2016.
She was 83 years old.
She was born in Sissonville, West Virginia, raised in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and resided in Sun, Louisiana for the last 50 years.
After graduation from the University of Kentucky, she was a devoted educator working in public and private schools in four states, before her retirement in 2015. She was an accomplished pianist and musical director, affiliated with several area churches. Beginning in college, she performed as a vocalist with different groups. Her first local area group was The Sun Trio, which formed in the late 1960’s. The three women were requested at gospel events and singings during the 1960’s and 1970’s.
She taught music lessons for years, and enjoyed performing with Joyce Lejeune. A truly strong southern lady, fighting to the end, she defied all odds, surprised all medical professionals, living sixteen months after an epic heart attack and two hospitalizations for life threatening infections.
She rallied for her family, proving that love in the heart, the will to live, and faith in God conquers all. She will be remembered for the love she had for all children, her willingness to help all, and her spunky spirit.
She was the devoted mother of Cindy Murphy, Julie Young and Rollenda Young; sister of the late Joan Amburgey; grandmother of Amy, Kerri, Coty, and the late Crystal; great-grandmother of Shane, Gage, Jacob, Mathew, Lucas and Aubrey; and aunt of Jeff, Marc, and Poochie Amburgey.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 24 at the Sun First Baptist Church.

Gary Paul Sprague passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, September 20, 2016.
He was 54 years old.
He was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, lived in Jefferson Parish for over 20 years, and resided in Covington for the last eight years.
Gary worked as a Vice President Business Processing Consultant for over 20 for Whitney Bank.
He was the son of Donald and Patricia Sprague; and husband of Maritza F. Sprague for 20 years.
His deepest pride was reserved for his daughter Katelynn, age 19, now a sophomore majoring in mass communications at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and son Cameron, age 17, an award-winning musician at Covington High School.
He leaves behind his sister, Connie Tappert, now married to Dave, and his brother Richard, who lives in Seattle with his wife Stowe and their three children.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Christ of the King Lutheran Church located at 1001 West Esplanade Avenue, Kenner, La. on Saturday, October 1 at 4 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will take place immediately following at the church in Fellowship Hall.

Diane H. Perniciaro, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Covington, La.
She was 69 years old.
She was the beloved wife of the late Leon B. Perniciaro; mother of Richard Perniciaro (Christine), Dominick Perniciaro (Sabrina), Stacy Gonzalez (Rick), and Joe Perniciaro (Sherri); and sister of the late Eleanor Ebanks. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
She was a native of New Orleans, a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish, and a resident of Covington since 2005.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 23 at Bride Adorned Church, 1000 Caruso Blvd, Slidell.
Emily Gatlin Magee, a resident of Slidell, LA, age 92, born on March 22, 1924 in Franklinton, LA, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Park Provence in Slidell.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheralyn Smith and Bridgette Magee; a brother, Ollie Gatlin; three grandchildren, Richard Brian Smith, Grace Leanne Smith and Jonah Stafford Smith; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Christian Smith, Cody Allen Smith, Ava Marie Smith, and Grace Elizabeth Massimini.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Porter Gatlin and Annie Pearson Gatlin.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016, at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa, La. at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tim Smith officiating.
