Ryan Porche webRyan Carl Porche, 45, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017.

He was the son of Carl Gerard Porche, Jr. and Beryl Earhart Porche; grandson of Gloria Vinsanau Earhart, and the late Milton Everett Earhart, Sr., Carl Gerard Porche Sr. and Mildred Fisher Porche; and brother of Trista Porche Nash.

Also, stepfather of Dianna Bailey and Austin Bailey.

A native of Chalmette, he was a Slidell resident since 2010 and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a reservist and deployed to serve in Desert Storm in 1990-91. Porche worked for The Barcelona Therapy Group as a home health Physical Therapist and was an active member of Northshore Church, serving on a mission trip to Haiti in 2016.

A celebration of life service was held on Wednesday, July 5 at Northshore Church.

A private interment will take place at a later date.

BREWSTERChalá Brewster, 59, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in New Orleans.

She was the daughter of Filmore Chatellier, Jr. and the late Jacqueline Hansen Chatellie; step-daughter of Janella Taylor Chatellier; and wife for 34 years to  Darrell T. Brewster.

Also, mother of Tanya M. Johnston (Stephen) and Olga Rebecca “Becky” Brewster; grandmother of Nicole Johnston and Joseph Johnston; sister of Philip Eugene “Bubba” Chatellier (the late Tammy); and step-sister of Keith Magee (Kim), Craig Magee (Kelly), and Sondra Cude (Billy).

Funeral services were held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington, on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Interment at Theodore Dendinger Cemetery, Madisonville.

 

markeyDeidre Lynn Markey (Ball), 52, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.

A native of Marrero, she attended school in Mandeville and graduated in 1983. She was a member of the Flag Team and Rifle Team and was a maid in her freshman year for the football court.

She graduated from Delgado School of Nursing in 2002 and was an RN at Lakeview Regional Hospital working the step down unit and occasionally the ICU unit.

She was the daughter of Dorothy Lancaster Markey and the late Daniel Louis Markey, Jr.; granddaughter of the late Ruth Nolan Lancaster; and great granddaughter of the late Edward James and Ruth Nolan.

She was the mother of Michael Nolan Ball and Colleen Marie Ball; and sister of Daniel L. Markey III (Karen) and David Lawrence Markey (Barbara).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial mass at 12 noon on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St. Abita Springs.

Visiting hours at the church will begin Friday at 9 a.m. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.

shimekCharles Roy Shimek, Jr., 73, of Covington died on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at his residence.

He was a retired electrical engineer with Entergy Corp.

He was the father of Michael Shimek of Hammond, Will Shimek and wife DeAnna of Nederland, TX, and the late Benjamin Shimek; son of Katherine Black Shimek of Beaumont, TX. and the late Charles Roy Shimek Sr.; and brother of Linda Jean Shimek of Beaumont, TX. and the late Larry Shimek and David Sghimek.

Also, grandfather of Brooke Shimek, Bree Shimek, and Blake Shimek all of Nederland, TX

At the family’s request, there will be no funeral service.

 

larreLeonard A. “Lenny” Larre’, 64, of Mandeville passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

He was the husband of 34 years to Catherine Bobberschmidt Larre’; son of the late Oscar D. Larre’ and Shirley Posecai Larre’; and brother of Sandra Larre’ and the late Deborah Larre’ Mauer, and Annette Larre.

A native of New Orleans, he grew up in Terrytown and moved to the Northshore and lived in Mandeville for the last 17 years. He retired from Chrevon, having worked there over 20 years, overseeing the Navigational Aids Program.

Funeral services were held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington on Monday, July 3rd, 2017.

Interment in Mandeville City Cemetery
