Chandler Jeremy “Donk” Laurent, a lifelong resident of Lacombe, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014.
He was 26 years old.
He played for several teams, and was ultimately drafted as a pro baseball player by the Colorado Rockies in 2009.
Laurent is survived by his parents, Madeleine and Jimmy Laurent Sr., Jimmy Jr. (Spring), Samuel, Charleton, and Kim; grandmothers, Helen C. Laurent and Gloria C. Lefrere; nieces and nephews, Sophia, Tristan, Charli Lisa, and Emmanuel; and godchildren, Tristan and Blaize.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George Laurent and Shelton A. Lefrere Sr.; and his childhood friend, Ethan Cousin.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Oct. 14 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 28088 Main Street, Lacombe, La.

Larry Alan McLain, of Covington, passed away on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at his residence.
He was 75 years old.
He was born on Wednesday, September 6, 1939, in New Orleans, La. to Lindsey McLain and Beaulah Thigpen McLain.
He is survived by his wife, Emelia Ann Lee McLain; daughters, Misty Riley and Sherry Van Etten; brothers, George McLain, and Averice McLain; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Dennis McLain.
A funeral service was held on Oct. 1 at New Zion Baptist Church, 17387 New Zion Baptist Church Rd., Covington.

Juanita Duplessis Moley passed away on Monday, Oct. 6, 2014.
She was 90 years old.
Born in New Orleans, she was the loving daughter of the late Juanita Benneto and Herman Duplessis; and wife of the late Sam A. Bella Sr. and Victor Moley.
She is also preceded in death by her sister, Aline Brevelle; mother of Sam A. Bella Jr. (Rosalie), Susan Barbé (Victor), and Stanley Moley; grandmother of Faith Marie Cutrera (Nick), Jacques Barbé, Renee’ Farhat (Jay), Toi Rose and Felecia Carper; great-grandmother of Sarah and Luke Cutrera, Justin and Colin Farhat, and Kaitlynn and Rylee Barbé; aunt of Priscilla Heaphy (Alden) and great-aunt to Alden (Lori) and Drew (Betsy) Heaphy, and their children Alden, Britain, Kaitlin and Kassidy Heaphy.
Private services were held on Oct. 8.
Fr. Gary Copping celebrated the funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington.
Pallbearers included Jacques Barbe, Nick Cutrera, Jay Farhat, Alden Heaphy, Drew Heaphy and Dudley Williams.
Masses in her memory are preferred to a church of choice or to: St. Anselm Catholic Church, 505 Pine St., Madisonville, LA 70447.

Cintra Shober Austin, known as Sister Cintra Pemberton in the Episcopal Order of Saint Helena, passed away peacefully at The Place in Martinez on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014.
She was 78 years old.
Before entering the convent, she was married and raised a family. With an MA degree and an academic background in history and music history, she taught for many years at St. Martin’s Episcopal School and Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Austin entered the religious life in 1977, making her life profession in 1982. She was recognized nationally and internationally as an outstanding leader of spiritual programs and pilgrimages to Celtic countries, the Holy Land, and Turkey.
Austin is survived by her daughter, Cintra “Pemmie” Austin Sheasby (Reynolds); daughter-in-law, Elain Austin; four grandchildren, Paul William Mayronne (Cindy), Kathryn Mayronne Irving (Dan), John Brander Austin V (Quint), and Elizabeth Austin Weber (John); great-grandchildren, Hunter, Christian, and Lily; and sister, Mrs. Richard B. Fox (Jane) of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Brander Austin Jr.; parents, John Bedford Shober and Beatrice Moulton Shober; brother and sister, John Bedford Shober Jr. and Beatrice Elizabeth Shober (Tete); and former husband, the Rev. John B. Austin.
A memorial service was held at on Oct. 15 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 Church Ave, Pass Christian, Ms.

Lucien J. Joly passed away on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014.
He was 89 years old.
He was the husband of Margaret Jones Joly for 39 years; father of Jeanette Essick (Rocky), Rodney Joly (Michelle), Jacqueline Schwander (Donald) and the late Robert Joly and Robbie Schmolke.
He is survived by seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Joly was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during World War II. He was a native of New Orleans, where he was the President and owner of Joly‘s Metal Works, Inc. For the past three years he resided at Christwood Retirement Community in Covington.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471 on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 12 noon with visitation at church on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a celebration of his life immediately following at Christwood Retirement Community.

Joseph Frederick Sanders passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, of a heart attack,
He was 85 years old.
He was the father of Vicki L. Sanders, Lisa A. Bailey, Lori E. Brusstar and Lynne T. Lee; son of the late Mabel Kurz Sanders, and Frederick H. Sanders; brother of Irwin Sanders, Frederick Sanders Jr. and Linda Mears; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Sanders was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Mandeville for the past nine years. While at Warren Easton High School, he was a member of the band; he became an Eagle Scout, a certified lifeguard, and worked as such at Stallings Playground.
In his later years, Sanders started being a substitute teacher in some Mandeville Schools.

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Seghers Roniger passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014.
She was 97 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Joseph J. Roniger Sr.; her parents, Clarence and Bertha Ray Seghers; and her granddaughter, Beth Roniger.
She is survived by four sons, Joseph J. Roniger, M.D. (Mary Sue), Richard R. Roniger, M.D. (Marjorie), Timothy T. Roniger (Nancy), and Rory C. Roniger (Becky); and grandchildren, Peter Roniger, Sarah Roniger Bennett (Beau), Luke Roniger (Riley), Jonathan Roniger (Deidre), Taney Roniger (Colin Selleck), Geoffrey Roniger (Taylor), Seamus Roniger, Tyson Roniger (Angel), and Megan Roniger.
She was the step-grandmother of Emery Ordemann and Beau Ordemann; and the great-grandmother of 10.
Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, on Sept. 20. Her ashes were placed in the Memorial Garden next to the church.
