Elizabeth McKeller Johnson passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
She was born, Saturday, May 5, 1923 in Silas, Ala. to Vaton and Maggie Cunningham McKeller, and has been a resident of Covington for over 70 years.
She was the wife of the late Calvin Johnson Sr.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmie Johnson (Debbie), Calvin Jr. (Joan) and Melvin Johnson; daughters, Evelyn Leslie (Rio), Linda Freeman (Joe), Gwendolyn Johnson (Desmond), Janice Vick (Cedric) and Phyllis Heisser (Dwight); 25 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and godchild, Cedric Vick Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Johnson; daughters, Eloise Johnson and Carolyn Johnson; brother, J.D. McKeller; and sister, Elvira Cox.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 26 at Greater Starlight Baptist Church, 521 W. 28th Ave. Covington.

Barbara Nugent Penton, of Abita Springs, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
She was 70 years old.
She was born in Jena, La. to Ray Edward Nugent and Elsie Rosalie Nugent.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, W. B. Penton; sons, Thomas Ray Penton and wife Dena Wainwright, and Gregory Scott Penton; daughter, Evette Monique Randolph and husband Michael;, granddaughters, Chelsea Elizabeth Penton, Victoria Gabrielle Penton, and Ciara Monet Randolph; grandson, Magnum Justice Randolph; and sister by friendship, Patricia Finn.
She was predeceased by her father, Ray Edward Nugent; and mother, Elsie Rosalie Nugent.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 23 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue Covington.

Catherine McCrary Taylor passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at her residence at Christwood Retirement Community in Covington.
She was 94 years old.
She was the wife of Horace Taylor for 57 years until his death in 1994.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Watt McCrary and Myrtle Pierce McCrary; sister, Blanche McCrary Wade.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Taylor Newcomb Trumps (Regis); son, H. Braughn Taylor Jr.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Abadie (John); grandsons, Richard D. Newcomb Jr. (Patti), and Stephen F. Newcomb (Ruth); great-granddaughter, Taylor Joanna Newcomb; great-grandson, Staphen F. Newcomb Jr.; brother, James W. McCrary Jr.; and cousin, John Geiser.
A funeral service was held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, on Nov. 23.

Nicholas S. Perniciaro, a resident of the Trace Senior Living Community, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013.
He was 75 years old.
He was the husband of the late Catherine Ragusa Perniciaro; father of Mary Supal (Mike). Vickie McEntee (Michael) and Angela Pevey (Ron); son of the late Angelina Lonero Allen and Samuel Perniciaro; brother of the late Joseph Perniciaro; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Perniciaro was an employee of and retired from Gordons Transport and St. Bernard Parish Government.
A funeral mass was held on Nov. 21 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington.

Katherine French Tweedy, of Covington, passed away on Sunday Nov. 17, 2013.
She was 89 years old.
She was born Katherine Karen French, and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Alice Engan French. She attended Covington High and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1943.
She was the wife of the late Byron Tweedy; mother of Jim Tweedy and the late Jack Tweedy; grandmother of Mark-Ellen Tweedy, Mackenzie Tweedy, Sean Tweedy and Shannon Tweedy; and sister of John and William French.
She was a lifelong resident of Covington for 87 years. She was a former teacher at Covington High, a child welfare worker and a supervisor for the St. Tammany Parish Office of Social Services.
A graveside service was held on Nov. 21 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 2280 W. 21st Ave, Covington.

Charles Eugene Patterson passed away on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
He was 50 years old.
He was the son of Earl Wayne “Pat” and the late Lydia Patterson.
Patterson was the step-son of Sandra Pitre and the beloved brother of Randy Patterson.
He was a resident of Covington for the past 20 years and an active member of STARC in Mandeville.
A graveside service was held on Nov. 21 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

Joe Louis Abrams passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.
He was 75 years old.
He was the son of Myron Louis Abrams of Los Angeles, Calif. and Babette Gottlieb Abrams of Pine Bluff, Ark. He was the husband of Elizabeth “Beth” Schlenker Abrams; father of Jody Gottlieb Abrams (wife Angela Ewing Abrams), and Louis Andrew Abrams; grandfather of Alex, Abbie and Asa Reese, and Leah Abrams.
He was a veteran of the Navy and Air Force served in the Vietnam War. He coached Little League Football in Madisonville and had a field dedicated to him and was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Coquille Sports Complex.
Abrams was a CRNA, working at St. Tammany Parish Hospital for 29 years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time. Please wear red.

Leo John Kervin passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, in Mandeville, of cardiac arrest.
He was 76 years old.
He was the son of the late Leo John Kervin and Mary Margaret Vaughn Kervin; and brother to Tom Kervin and Margaret Kervin Bowles.
Kervin was born October 6, 1937 in Lackawanna, New York. He graduated from St. Bonaventure with a degree in accounting.
He is survived by his son, Tim Kervin; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kervin; grandsons, Brenden Kervin and Grayson Kervin; and ex-wife, Carolyn Kervin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sean Michael Kervin and wife Francis Anne Alstadter Kervin.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29 with a memorial mass immediately following at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mandeville. Arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home.
