Eligio “Lee” P. Vinti passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Serenity Senior Residence, Metairie, La.
He was 90 years old.
Vinti served in the U.S. Army and a veteran of World War II.
He was born in New Orleans and lived in Abita Springs for 40 years. He was employed by Pan American Life and retired from Schenley Industries with over 30 years of service. He also worked at Abita Springs Country Club. Vinti was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School and Southwestern Louisiana University. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a former Alderman and Mayor of Abita Springs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Tassin Vinti.
He was the father of Debra Smith (Michel), Lee Vinti (Brenda), Margaret V. Royerre (Al), Robin Vinti (Debie) and the late Dino Vinti; brother of Marie Vinti Reboul and the late Alexander F. Vinti, Pascal Vinti and Domenica Vinti Romano; brother-in-law of Leona Vinti; and grandfather of Stacy, Kelley, Michael, Christopher, Dustin, Desiree, Matthew, Megan, Micah, Daniel and Ashley.
He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Antonio and Domenica “Mamie” Giacona Vinti.
A funeral mass was held on March 18 at St. Jane deChantal Catholic Church, Abita Springs.

Alton O. Hauswirth, Jr., a resident of Slidell, and a Marine Corps retiree passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Hauswirth; sons, Alton Hauswirth, III and Spencer Westerfield. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Elena Hauswirth; and grandson, Mathuis Hauswirth.
The burial was held on Friday, March 14 at Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary, La.

Kathryn (Kathy) Muller Calahan passed away at home after her battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease).
She was 66 years old.
She was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Muller.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dan Calahan; mother of Shelley Smith Hogan (Chris) of Atlanta, Ga.; step-mother of Danielle Calahan Sears (John) of Orlando, Fla.; grandmother to Riley and Cole Hogan and Patrick and Kelly Sears; and brother, John Muller of Picayune, Ms.
She was a native of Arabi, La., graduated from Chalmette High in 1965, then obtained her RN degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a professional in all aspects of the New Orleans Health Care and Managed Care community.
A small service was held on March 17 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington.

William Preston “Billy” Cahill passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
He was 85 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Theda “Tedie” Meade Hodges Cahill; father of Caroline N. Cahill, Marion F. Vargas (Noel), Forrest E. Cahill, William P. Cahill Jr., Corinne A. Cahill and the late Edward D. Cahill (Rhonda); grandfather to Kaitlyn Cahill, Tedie Cahill, CiCi Cahill, Hannah Cahill and Abigail Cahill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leverich and Marion Cahill; and former wife, George-Ann Davidson Cahill.
He was a native of New Orleans and resident of The Windsor Senior Living Community in Mandeville, La.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in memory of William P. Cahill to Manresa House of Retreats P.O. Box 89, Convent, La 70723.
A memorial mass was held on March 17 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, Covington.

Ralph Thomas McDaniel Sr., of Covington, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at his home.
He was born Monday, April 30, 1928 in Franklinton, La. to Elder Tom McDaniel and Allie Creel McDaniel.
He was 85 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Erma Fairburn McDaniel; daughter, Charlotte McDaniel Bushnell (Kenneth); son, R.T. McDaniel (Shan); grandchildren, Kristi and Blake Bushnell, McCade Hayes, McCall, Steele, Sutton, and McCayn McDaniel; and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kort Bushnell, Sheppard and Sullivan McDaniel.
He was predeceased by his parents and 11 siblings.
A visitation was held on March 15 from Covington Missionary Baptist Church, 86 Gardenia Dr. Covington.
