Lakeshore swept by Neville in Regionals

MANDEVILLE — It was quite an exciting ride for the Lakeshore Titans during the Class 4A postseason tournament.
Lakeshore put together an impressive rally to knock off South Lafourche, 11-4, to advance to the Regional round of the playoffs.
Once there, however, the ninth-seeded Titans ended up getting swept by No. 8 Neville in the best-of-three series.
In game one of the series, Lakeshore suffered a close, 4-3, setback against Neville. In the second game, the Titans saw their opponent erupt for 14 runs en route to a 14-3 triumph.
The Titans close out their 2017 campaign with a 20-16 record.
In the battle against South Lafourche, Preston Bohn was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, drove in three runs and scored what proved to be the game-winning run in Lakeshore’s thrilling, opening-round win over South Lafourche. The Titans were on the brink of elimination and faced a 4-3 deficit in the sixth inning. Lakeshore, though, exploded for eight runs in the frame and went on to post the 11-4 triumph.
Although Bohn led the offensive attack for Lakeshore, there were a number of standout performances turned in by other Lakeshore players.
Jacob Bernard collected four hits, scored three runs and recorded three RBI for the Titans, JT Singletary added three hits and he scored one run and Cameron Bucy had two hits, drove in the game-winning run, and registered three RBI.
Bucy started on the mound for the Titans and worked five innings during the game. After a shaky start in which he allowed four, first-inning runs, Bucy settled down and shut down South Lafourche the rest of the way. Ryan Daughtry pitched the final two innings, did not allow a hit, and earned the victory for Lakeshore.
