MANDEVILLE — Mandeville High School graduate Everett Ellefsen will be a senior at McNeese University as a defensive end this year.
The 6-3, 230 pounder was a 2013 Preseason All-SLC Second Team Defensive Line, 2013 CFPA Defensive Line/End Watch List, 2012 All-SLC Second Team, and 2012 All-Louisiana Second Team.
Last year, he was a team leader with 12 tackles for a loss to go along with four sacks, and was ranked sixth on the team with 50 total tackles. He played and started in all 11 games, recorded a career-best 10 tackles along with a sack and two tackles for a loss against Northwestern State, and had seven tackles each in the final two games of the season at UTSA and verses Lamar.
Ellefsen recorded 18 quarterback hurries and broke up four passes, forced two fumbles, and had sacks against McMurry, at Weber State, verses Northwestern State and Lamar.
In 2011, Ellefsen played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman and recorded 17 tackles to go along with two tackles for a loss and a sack. His sack came against Nicholls when he was credited with a safety and had a career-high five tackles against Stephen F. Austin.
At Mandeville High School, Ellefsen was a three-year starter and winner of coaches defensive captain award. As a senior he was credited with 97 tackles, 11 TFL, nine sacks, four forced fumbles and five recovered fumbles, had 163 career tackles and 15 sacks, and a three-year honor roll student.
He is majoring in business, and is the son of Eric Ellefsen. He was also named to the 2012 SLC Commissioner’s Fall Academic list.
