Alpha Mortgage, Financial Author Charles Marsala to host 1st Responders Appreciation Event

COVINGTON – For Jimmy Briant and Charles Marsala, the idea for doing something special for First Responders Appreciation Day was easy to figure out.

Briant, owner of Alpha Mortgage in Mandeville, and Marsala, a financial advisor with Benchmark Investment Group in Covington, are offering their own expertise to provide free information and advice for anyone who attends the First Responders Appreciation Day, set for Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Holiday Inn hotel in Covington.

The event is free and open to all and will be held from on November 12th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
When Briant and Marsala got together to plan a way to show their appreciation to first responders in this area—joining in the national First Responders Appreciation Day—they decided that the best thing they could do is offer their own experience to aid those men and women.

Marsala, who is a former Mayor and Councilman of Atherton, CA. Atherton is covered by the Menlo Park Fire District. One hundred members of the fire district were sent to New Orleans after Katrina,  New York after 9-11, and Oklahoma City after the bombing.

Marsala remarked:  “First responders retire earlier in life than most professions due to the pressure, dangers, and injuries  of those jobs. They have to have special plans in place. And they have many different needs and opportunities when it comes to finances and mortgages. There is a lot we can help them with in both of those areas.”

A team of seasoned mortgage specialists from Alpha Mortgage will be on hand to answer questions on all types of mortgages: including purchases, refinances, reverse mortgages, rural development, VA, FHA and conventional mortgages.

In addition to experts in the mortgage business with decades of experience, Alpha Mortgage also has the only Certified Reverse Mortgage Specialist in Louisiana.

Marsala will bring experience from the financial services arena. He is one of the few in the nation to represent Loring-Ward out of San Jose, CA.

Marsala is the author of “Six Steps to Financial Legacy” a book covering such portfolio topics as: Design, Build, Invest, Analyze, Protect, and Transfer.

Six Steps was designed on a Route 66 driving concept. Readers relate driving the States of Route 66 with the phases of a Financial Journey. The “66” articles in the book correspond to fictional towns in the drive.

The book comes with a 10 day plan for driving Route 66.

Marsala will be able to answer questions on topics such as Portfolio Design, Asset Allocation, Concentrated Stock Positions, Alternative Investments, Annuities, 401K plans, Life Insurance, Structured Settlements, Long Term Care, Medicaid Qualifying, Buy/Sell Agreements, Regulations A & D, Trusts, Philanthropy, Generation Skipping Trusts, and Estate Planning.

“Jimmy and his staff will provide some great information on various loans, relating credit scores to mortgage, and evaluating how much house you should buy for your income,” Marsala explained. “There will also be title company representatives at our seminar with information on closings.”

Marsala said that he and Briant wanted to offer free advice for first responders because the options in the area of mortgages and financial planning are so extensive that most people need an expert to help.
“In today’s world there are so many options,” he said. “We want to help them understand what is best for their situation.”

Alpha Mortgage specialists will also have valuable information involving flood insurance and new changes in lending nationally, which saw certain areas endure incredible increases in that insurance.
The bottom line is that we will provide information tailored to each individual,” Marsala said. “We hope a lot of first responders will take advantage of this. There is no obligation for anything—we simply want to give them good financial information and mortgage information to help them in whatever they are considering.”

Refreshments will be provided. The public is welcome.
